Privacy policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Elite Games Club collects, why, and what your rights are. It is written to meet the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

Elite Games Club ("we", "us") is the "controller" of your personal information.

Contact: support@elitegamesclub.com

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Your username and password. Passwords are stored in a scrambled (hashed) form that we cannot read.
  • Your email address, if you choose to give one.
  • A display name and a profile picture, if you choose to add them.

Information created as you play

  • The games you play: the tables you join, the cards played, scores, results, the time you take to move, and whether you leave a game early.
  • Statistics and a rating worked out from those games.
  • Your friends list and friend requests.

Technical information

  • A record of each device you are logged in on (the type of device, and when it was last used), so that you can stay logged in and log devices out.
  • Your IP address and basic details of your browser, which our servers record in logs for security and fault-finding.
  • If you allow analytics cookies, how you use the website: the pages you open and for how long, the kind of device and browser, roughly where in the world you are, and how you found us. Google Analytics collects this for us; see our Cookie policy.

We do not ask for your real name, address, date of birth or payment details, and we do not knowingly collect special category information (such as health, religion or ethnicity). Please do not put any in your name or picture.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To provide the game — creating your account, logging you in, running tables, keeping scores and history. Lawful basis: performing our contract with you (the Terms of use).
  • To send you service emails — confirming your email address and resetting your password. Lawful basis: contract.
  • To keep the game fair and safe — preventing cheating and abuse, protecting accounts, finding faults. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running a secure and fair service.
  • To show statistics and leaderboards. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in offering a competitive game.
  • To see how the website is used, so that we can improve it, through Google Analytics and only if you allow it. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can take back at any time from Cookie preferences at the bottom of the website's pages.
  • To meet legal duties, where the law requires us to keep or disclose information. Lawful basis: legal obligation.

We do not use your information for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means that have a legal or similarly significant effect.

What other players can see

Your username, display name, picture, statistics, rating and leaderboard position, and the record of finished games you took part in, can be seen by other people using the website. Your email address and password are never shown to other players.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers who host the website and deliver our emails. They act only on our instructions.
  • Google, which runs Google Analytics for us, only if you allow analytics cookies: how the website is used, without your name, email address or username. Google may handle it outside the United Kingdom.
  • Authorities or advisers, where we are required to by law or need to in order to protect our rights or the safety of others.
  • A new owner, if the service is ever transferred, on the same terms as this policy.

If any of these are outside the United Kingdom, we make sure your information has the protection UK law requires, such as an adequacy decision or approved contract terms.

How long we keep it

  • Account information: for as long as you have an account. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep something for longer.
  • Records of finished games may be kept, without your personal details, so that other players' history remains complete.
  • Server logs: for a short period, normally no more than 90 days.
  • Links sent by email to confirm an address or reset a password expire within 30 minutes.

Keeping it secure

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), store passwords only in hashed form, and limit who can reach the data. No system is perfectly secure, so please choose a password you do not use elsewhere.

Children

The website is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has registered, please contact us and we will remove the account.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • be told how your information is used (this policy);
  • ask for a copy of your information;
  • have inaccurate information corrected — you can change most details yourself in your profile;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it;
  • receive the information you gave us in a portable form.

To use any of these rights, contact us at the address above. We will reply within one month and there is normally no charge.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so that we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and we will draw attention on the website to any significant change.
