Cookie policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

This policy explains how Elite Games Club uses cookies and similar technology. It is written to meet the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR.

What these are

Cookies are small files a website saves on your device. Websites can also save small amounts of information in your browser's own storage ("local storage" and "session storage"), which works in a similar way. The law treats them alike, so this policy covers both.

What we use

We use two kinds:

  • Strictly necessary ones, which the website cannot work without. These are always on.
  • Analytics ones, from Google Analytics, which help us see how the website is used. These are used only if you say yes.

We do not use advertising cookies, or cookies from social networks.

Strictly necessary

  • Your login — a token kept in your browser's storage so that you stay logged in between visits. If you untick "Remember me" it is removed when you close the browser. It is deleted when you log out.
  • Your answer to the cookie question — kept in your browser's storage, so that we do not ask you on every visit. After a year we ask again.

The law does not require us to ask for your consent to these, because the website cannot work without them.

Analytics, only with your consent

On your first visit we ask whether you allow analytics cookies. "No thanks" and "Allow" are equally easy to choose. Only if you choose Allow do we load Google Analytics, a service from Google that tells us how the website is used: which pages are opened and for how long, on what kind of device and browser, roughly where in the world, and how visitors found us. It does not tell us your name, your email address or your username, and we do not use it to build a profile of you.

Google Analytics saves these cookies on your device:

  • _ga — tells one browser's visits apart from another's. It stays for up to 2 years.
  • _ga_VNR722QR77 — keeps track of the visit in progress. It stays for up to 2 years.

Google may handle this information outside the United Kingdom. You can read how Google uses information from websites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

How to control them

  • Cookie preferences, at the bottom of the website's pages, asks the question again. If you change your answer to no, the counting stops at once and the Google Analytics cookies are removed.
  • Log out to remove the login token from your device.
  • You can clear or block cookies and site storage in your browser's settings. If you block them for this website you will not be able to stay logged in or play.

Guidance for the main browsers is available from the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/for-the-public/online/cookies.

Changes

If we start using any other cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first. The date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
